We need your help!

The Clara Abbott Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that provides need-based financial assistance and scholarships to Abbott families. We are conducting a worldwide census to determine how many children of employees are planning to attend — or would attend if funds were available — college/university, trade or vocational school during their next school year.

It’s available in 16 languages and will take only seconds to complete. The deadline to submit your response is November 20, 2024.

Frequently Asked Questions

My child is 18 and planning on attending a trade school next year. Should I count her on the census?

Yes. You should indicate the number of all your children ages 17-24 who will be attending — or would be attending if funds were available — college/university, trade or vocational school during their next school year.

My son is planning to graduate from college early next year. Should I count him on the census?

No. Your child must be planning to attend college (undergraduate) during the next school year.

Do I need to participate, even if I don’t have children ages 17-24?

Yes. All employees are encouraged to complete the census regardless of whether or not they have college-age children.

How do I know the information will be kept confidential?

All employee information is kept confidential. This information will only be used for the purpose of this census and will not be shared outside of The Foundation. Data is reported on an aggregate basis – no individual data will be reported. For more information, read our Privacy Policy.

Will my answer impact my child’s ability to qualify for a scholarship?

No. The information provided is confidential and used solely for Internal Revenue Service (U.S. tax authority) purposes.

Why do I need to do this? Why is it important?

The Internal Revenue Service (U.S. tax authority) requires The Foundation to complete a census every five years. The data can be used to regulate the number of scholarships The Foundation awards, therefore it is important that every employee has the opportunity to fill out the census. The more college/university-age children reported – the more scholarship awards that can be made available to Abbott families.

What should I do if I’m having technical difficulties?

If you are having any technical issues, please send an email to askclara@abbott.com.

When is the deadline to submit the census?

The deadline has been extended to ensure as many employees as possible have the opportunity to submit their responses. Please complete as soon as possible, but no later than December 31, 2024.
