How Can I Contribute?
The Clara Abbott Foundation is unique. Our sole purpose is to provide help and hope to members of the Abbott family, yet we remain totally independent and receive no funding from Abbott. The Foundation sustains its charitable work through the proceeds from the investment of Clara Abbott’s original endowment.
You can help contribute to The Clara Abbott Foundation’s mission by volunteering your time and talents.
The Foundation relies on Abbott retirees to help support its mission. Hours, times and commitments are flexible. Please call (800) 972-3859 to learn more about the different ways you can help The Foundation.
- General office and administrative: Answer phones and help with mailings, light computer data entry and other general office tasks.
- Reviewers: Spend 1-2 hours each week reviewing the recommendations on cases made by management of The Financial Assistance Program, and provide the final decision on whether or not to grant assistance.
- Advocates: In certain situations, work with clients to manage paperwork and processes, or in some cases, act as intermediary between clients and local, state and federal agencies.
- Outreach: Reach out to Abbott retirees in need to remind them that The Clara Abbott Foundation may be available to help.
