Completing the 2019 Census
We need your help!
The Clara Abbott Foundation will be conducting a worldwide census to determine how many children of Abbott employees are planning to attend — or would attend if funds were available — college/university, trade or vocational school during their next school year.
An email will be sent to you on February 19 with a link to the census. It is important that you complete the census – regardless of whether or not you have college-age children. The census will take only seconds to complete.
Why is this so important? The census data can be used to regulate the number of scholarships that can be awarded to Abbott families. It is very important that every employee has the opportunity to complete the census so we can continue to award as many scholarships as possible.
We appreciate your help with this important effort. Please contact The Foundation directly with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org, or refer to frequently asked questions below.

My child is 18 and planning on attending a trade school next year. Should I count her on the census?
Yes. You should indicate the number of all your children ages 17-24 who will be attending — or would be attending if funds were available — college/university, trade or vocational school during their next school year.
My son is planning to graduate from college this spring. Should I count him on the census?
No. Your child must be planning to attend college during the next school year.
Do I need to participate, even if I don’t have children ages 17-24?
Yes. All employees are encouraged to complete the census regardless of whether or not they have college-age children.
How do I know the information will be kept confidential?
Will my answer impact my child’s ability to qualify for a scholarship?
No. The information provided is strictly confidential and used solely for Internal Revenue Service (U.S. tax authority) purposes.
Why do I need to do this? Why is it important?
The Internal Revenue Service (U.S. tax authority) requires The Foundation to complete a census every five years. The data can be used to regulate the number of scholarships The Foundation awards, therefore it is important that every employee has the opportunity to fill out the census. The more college/university-age children reported – the more scholarship awards that can be made available to Abbott families.
What should I do if I’m having technical difficulties?
If you are having trouble accessing the form with the link that was sent to you via email, please send an email to email@example.com.
When is the deadline to submit the census?
The deadline to submit the census is March 1, 2019.
