The following resources can be used to plan for a successful retirement. You’ll be able to figure out how much money you’ll need for retirement, how much you need to save and how long it will take you to reach your retirement goals.

    By inputting what you think your expenses will be in retirement compared to what you think your income will be, you can determine your retirement goals. From there, you can develop a savings plan to make that retirement a reality. 
  • Can you afford to retire or are you in over your head? Check out our Debt-to-Income Calculator
  • Estimate your potential Social Security benefits by choosing the calculator that meets your needs. Social Security can be a nice supplement to your retirement income. Use this site to figure out how much your projected Social Security benefits will be when you retire.

  • Abbott Retirement Guide for U.S. Abbott Employees Nearing Retirement — Learn about Abbott’s retirement benefits, the choices you must make about these benefits and the steps you must take to retire.
  • Freedom to Work Employee Guide — To encourage retirement-eligible employees to continue working rather than retire, Freedom to Work gives you the options for reducing your schedule, workload and/or responsibilities while sharing your knowledge with your colleagues and continuing to build your pension. This employee guide provides even more information about this option.

  • Abbott Retirement Seminars
    Contact Abbott Benefits at (800) 443-0841 to register for a seminar that will review the decisions you face as you retire and the steps you need to take. 

    Choose age bracket: 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s or 60s

The Clara Abbott Foundation defines retirees (upon separation from Abbott/TAP) as:
– 50 to 60 years of age plus a minimum of 10 years of service, or
– 61 years of age plus a minimum of 9 years of service, or
– 62 years of age plus a minimum of 8 years of service, or
– 63 years of age plus a minimum of 7 years of service, or
– 64 years of age plus a minimum of 6 years of service, or
– 65 years of age plus a minimum of 5 years of service.
